Baked chicken livers with onion and tomato sauce

From the childhood we all know that livers are very healthy to eat, but knowing doesn’t mean that you do it. One day I decided to make chicken liver pate and they were very delicious but I had some liver leftover and started to look for some new recipe. I found it in one of my favourite books and it looked very similar to the dish that my mom used to make when I was a child. So I gave it a try and me and my hubby enjoyed it a lot! Sadly but my kids didn’t understand us and didn’t eat. But anyway now this recipe is one of my favourites, because it’s so quick that for making and eating it I spend less than an hour.

Ingredients:

  • 400 g chicken livers
  • 2-3 onions
  • 1-1 1/2 tbsp. butter
  • 50 ml hot chilly sauce or tomato paste (or just tomato sauce)
  • 200 ml sour cream
  • salt
  • peppers

Directions:

  • Wash chichen livers, dry them and cut in smaller chops. Peel onion and cut in half-rings.
  • Heat butter in a pan. Add onions and saute while it will start to soften. Then add livers and bake mixing 4 minutes on a medium heat. Livers are done when they are pale brownish. Don’t over bake them!.

  • Serve with boiled potatoes and pickled cucumbers. Enjoy!

Bulvių salotos su grietine

Potato salads with sour cream

I know that potatoes doesn’t sound very summery, but it’s quick and only that matters to me now. Just have to mention that I asked my hubby to boil potatoes and eggs while I was at work. 🙂

Vištiena su jogurtu

Chicken with yoghurt

Quick dish if you prepare a day before. We liked it because it tasted differently as we used to.

Vištienos ir grikių troškinys

Chicken and buckwheat stew

Sad, but true… I have to go to work again… After more than two years of vacations. But let’s look at everything from another point of view – I have to think what to take to work for lunch and what to prepare for very quick dinner. Also from now on I can bake more sweets because to drink coffee gathers many girls 🙂 But let’s talk about this dish. I boiled buckwheats yesterday, so today I made everything in 15 minutes. You can call this dish stew or cereal with chicken 🙂 We’re not used to eat buckwheats with meat, but this new taste was good 🙂 Just my hubby wanted grated cheese on top and maybe some chili 🙂

Tinginys su chalva

Dessert with halva for lazy people

I can’t decide – I became lazy or just too tired to do anything. So still living and looking for quick and easy food. This lazy cake is not very sweet, so peope with sweet tooth maybe should add some sugar. But we liked it a lot – it’s not too sweet (as I mentioned 🙂 ), moist and creamy consistency.

Kalakutienos ir ryžių troškinys su morkomis ir žaliaisiais žirneliais

Turkey and rice stew with carrots and green peas

It’s really very simple stew and seasonings play here the main role. So you should use the ones that your family loves and the quantities that are good for you. Make experiment and enjoy it! As you can guess you can substitute turkey with chicken. We tried it already and we didn’t noticed the difference.
