Ingredients:
1 cup = 237 ml

  • 1/3 cup minced flaxseeds
  • 2 1/4–2 3/4 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup rye flour
  • 7 g. active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsps. flax seeds

  • In a large bowl, stir together 1 cup of the wheat flour, rye flour and yeast. Add water, oil, honey and salt. Mix well with a wooden spoon. Then stir in the ground flaxseeds and remaining flour.
  • Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough till it will be smooth and elastic. Mix in flaxseeds. Shape into a ball. Place in a lightly greased bowl, turn to grease the surface. Cover and let rise until nearly double in size (about 1 hour).
  • Punch dough down. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Line two baking sheets with baking paper and set aside.
  • Roll dough in a rectangle. Cut dough crosswise into 1/2 cm wide strips. Place strips about 1 cm apart on baking sheets, twisting breadsticks two to three times, if desired. Cover and let rise in a warm place until nearly double in size (about 30 minutes).
  • Preaheat oven to 210°С. Bake breadsticks 12-15 minutes. Enjoy!

Buns with bacon

We don’t eat smoked bacon with onions and bread often, just sometimes 🙂 But after visiting family in farm we got a big cut of smoked bacon. So I baked buns with bacon. I just love them, but my hubby don’t. Anyway, I baked and froze a lot of buns, so now I have snack or breakfast for a long time:)

Old times white bread

This bread was baked in a lot of blogs and forums, but I could photograph it just now, although I baked it already five times. My hands and eyes were not successfull 🙂 One time I overrised it, next time had to use rye flour, another next time some othe my mistakes. But despite that this bread is really good, like in old times. Just I would prefere to use milk instead water – it changes bread texture, it becomes more mild.

Ruginė duona su raugu

Sourdough rye bread

I bake this bread more then a year. But as always, the best recipes hardly reach the blog 🙂 Because I bake it very often and know all ingredients in my head. This bread is perfect. Really 🙂 After founding this bread I don’t buy any bread at store. Or maybe just in big gatherings when I don’t have time to bake more of this bread. 🙂

Sausage rolls

Autorius: Aušra Data: 2009-09-24 Very delicious rolls. And you can make then very easily, especially if you use breadmaker machine. Also you can roll them very quickly and with no effort, but it looks gorgeous …

Favourite granola bars

For real – this is my favourite granola bars. I like especially to substitute 1 tablespoon of brown sugar with molasses sugar. My all family also likes them for snack and everytime these bars are gone, they miss them.
