Chocolate cake with apples

Author: Aušra

Date:

This recipe waited for a year because last year somehow I was late – apples were gone, and I didn’t want to buy them. So this year this is my first (and the only) apple cake. And it was a really good cake! I baked only half of the recipe, but I got only one slice – my kids ate almost half of it at once. I could treat my parents only with the small slices… The cake is very moist and in reality it looks better than in the book. And I won’t judge my photos 🙂

Chocolate cake with apples

Time needed:
Yields: 12 servings
Calories: 356 kcal / serving

Ingredients:

  • 200 g butter
  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • 150-200 ml sugar
  • 250 ml flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3-4 apples
  • 50 ml brown sugar
  • 50 ml walnuts, chopped (I used almonds)

Directions:

  • Put butter in a bowl and melt on low heat. Then put dark chocolate chunks and melt stirring constantly.
  • In another bowl beat eggs with sugar, mix in the baking powder, cinnamon and flour mixture. Mix in butter-chocolate mix.
  • Peel apples and slice thinly.
  • About half apples mix in the cake batter.
  • Then pour batter into a 26cm diameter cake form, lined with baking paper. Put leftover apples on top, sprinkle with brown sugar and chopped nuts.
  • Bake in preheated to 175°C oven about 45 minutes (for me it took about 1 hour).
  • Let cool and enjoy!

Picos keksiukai

Pizza muffins

When me and my hubby for dinner want only salads, I know that my kids won’t aprove it. So I bake for them these pizza muffins and we eat them with the salads 🙂 They are very easy and quick, I think even a kid can bake them. The only thing I can say – I don’t know how they taste when completely cooled down or on the next day – we eat them warm and all at once.

Vaikų sausainiai

Kids’ cookies

Last weekend we baked kid’s cookies. And it was really fun 🙂 I’m happy that I found these butter cookie dough. You don’t have to chill it – just mix all ingredients and you can play. Of course it has one nuance – you can’t roll it and cut with cookie forms. You make cookies by making small balls and sticks. And if you just fantasize – you can make flowers, butterflies, turtles, worms or anything you can imagine.

Sodos duona

Soda bread

Somehow I forget to set my breadmaker to bake the bread or remember only very late in the evening. If there was no bread the next day my hubby would be starving 🙂 So I had to do something. And have to say that hubby very liked the bread with cheese.

Ruginė duona su raugu

Sourdough rye bread

I bake this bread more then a year. But as always, the best recipes hardly reach the blog 🙂 Because I bake it very often and know all ingredients in my head. This bread is perfect. Really 🙂 After founding this bread I don’t buy any bread at store. Or maybe just in big gatherings when I don’t have time to bake more of this bread. 🙂

Kefyro keksiukai

Sour milk muffins

Weekend 🙂 and at last I had time carefully to look what’s in a fridge 🙂 And my eyes saw sour milk that will spoil very quickly if I won’t do anything. So I remembered not so long ago published Bea sour milk muffins. There was no time to think – just do. And now I’m sitting happy and satisfied with a cup of tea:)
